The Korean War Veterans Memorial was dedicated July 27, 1995. The walls are 164 feet long, made of highly polished granite and picture more than 2500 images representing land, sea, and air troops who fought in the war. Beside the wall are 19 stainless steel statues of soldiers in the war by sculptor Frank Gaylord. Situated in front is a Pool of Remembrance which is 30 feet in diameter reflecting the granite wall that lists the 22 nations that contributed to the Korean War which was the first United Nations effort. It also contains the truth “Freedom is not free.â€
