History of Statue of Abraham Lincoln:

The Statue of Abraham Lincoln is the focal point of the Lincoln Memorial. It was created by sculptor Daniel Chester French and dedicated May 30, 1922. An inscription above President Lincoln’s image says, “In this Temple, as in the hearts of the people, for whom he saved the Union, the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever.” The statue is made of 28 pieces of White Georgian marble, is nineteen feet high and weighs approximately 120 tons.
